Wade Thomas was recently recognized by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for his years of service to the Vicksburg Fire Department.

Thomas was given a certificate of recognition for 30 years of service to the City of Vicksburg.

Vicksburg Fire Chief Craig Danczyk clarified that Thomas actually has several years past the 30 mark. Thomas was actually hired in 1984 in a group that included Former Chief Charles Atkins, recently retired Captain Mike Cogan, Captain Sam Smith and others. Thomas left the fire service for a little over a year in 1990 and returned a little over a year later in 1991.

Danczyk said Thomas is an excellent teammate and the kind of guy you would want as a neighbor. He went on to laud praise on Thomas’s cooking skills which keep morale at the stations high. Thomas is currently assigned to Station 5 and Ladder 15 at the Vicksburg airport.

Firefighter Wade Thomas, your friends at VDN salute you Sir, and thank you for your years of service to our community.
