Thompson Calls For Investigation into Yazoo Federal Prison
Listen to this articleMississippi 2nd District Congressman Bennie G. Thompson has requested that the Department of Justice launch an investigation into wrongdoing at the Yazoo Federal Correctional Facility.
On Monday, Thompson sent a letter to Michael E. Horowitz in the Inspector General’s Office.
In a statement, Thompson’s office said, “ If not addressed it can be detrimental to the prison system, employees, inmates, and surrounding community.”
Thompson outlined a myriad of complaints that have been brought to his office by employees and union officials. Among the issues are allegations of sexual misconduct, safety issues, inmate health issues and illegal staff searches.
