Raegan Thornell is now preparing for her upcoming junior softball season as she will be making her debut with the St. Aloysius Flashes.

“I feel pretty confident and we have a lot of potential so we shouldn’t have a problem being successful this year,” Thornell said.

As a freshman in 2021, Thornell played for Porter’s Chapel Academy where she had a .389 batting average and was named to the VDN All-County Team. Due to MAIS transfer rules she had to sit out in her sophomore year but continued keep up with her trainings.

“I’ve been playing tournament ball so I don’t think it will be too much different because we were very competitive and I may be a little nervous at first but I can work through that,” Thornell added.

Thornell will be under the leadership of head coach Mike Foley.

“He works really well with the girls and he knows how to show us what we need to do,” Thornell said.

Thornell, who made the All-District Team during the 2021 season as a freshman, also mentioned that she aims to continue improving on her hitting and fielding as the season is quickly approaching.

Thornell earned a reputation of being a true athlete due to her great hitting ability as well as being able to take over on the rubber if needed. She now has her eyes set on helping her new team reach the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade.

“I really think we can do it because we have a very good group of girls with a lot of motivation to help us do the best we can,” Thornell added.
