The National Weather Service in Jackson is advising a moderate threat of severe storms and the possibility of tornadoes on Wednesday. Storms are expected to make their way into the area around noon – 1 p.m.

Damaging winds up to 80 miles-per-hour are possible. A significant risk of high winds may threaten trees and power lines. Sustained winds between 25-30 miles-per-hour are expected.

Driving may prove difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. A wind advisory will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Increased rainfall in the area has also warranted concerns of flooding. Currently, a flood warning is in effect for the Big Black River near Bovina. Minor flooding has been observed and is expected in the forecast. As of 9:15 a.m., the river stood at 29.1 feet. At 32 feet, several access roads near the river will be underwater.
