Three men were arrested this week in Byram as a result of an ATV chop shop investigation, authorities say.

On May 12, Byram police responded to a disturbance call at Savage Off-Road Performance located at 6024 East Frontage Road.  During their investigation, officers found that a 2016 Dodge Challenger on the property had been reported stolen from Memphis, Tenn.

Police obtained and executed a search warrant for the property, where they located several stolen ATVs.  Some of the recovered vehicles were in good condition while others had been stripped.

The investigation led to the arrest of three individuals:

  • Matthew P. Gordon, 33, of Florence, was charged with five counts of receiving stolen property.
  • Robert A. Mutten, 33, of Crystal Springs, was charged with three counts of receiving stolen property.
  • Edward G. Hawthorn, 38, of Jackson, was charged with two counts of receiving stolen property.

Byram Police say the investigation is ongoing and further arrests could be made. Anyone with information is asked to call the Byram Police Department Detective Bureau at 601-372-7747 or CrimeStoppers at 601-655-TIPS.
