Three children injured in Sherman Ave accident
Three children were injured when a Dodge Charger left the roadway on Sherman Avenue, landing on its side against a tree.
Just before 8 p.m., the vehicle was headed east on Sherman near 307, directly across from the ball field. As it proceeded up the hill, it appears to have crossed into the westbound lane, passed over the fog line, slid down the embankment, and ended on its side against a tree, trapping some of the occupants inside the vehicle.
There were 4 people in the vehicle when it landed on its side and came to rest against a tree, trapping some of them in the vehicle. They were all able to get out of the vehicle by the time Rescue and a FireMedic unit arrived at the scene. One teenager complained of back pain, another of hip pain, and a pre-teen complained of an arm injury. The driver, who is 19, was uninjured.
Engine 9, Rescue, a Fire Medic unit and 3 VPD units responded to the scene.
The 3 youths were transported to an area hospital to be checked out by medical personnel. None of their injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
