Vicksburg, Miss.-Three St. Aloysius football players have been selected to play in the MAIS All-Star Football Game. John Ellis Montgomery, Clark Hobson, and Thompson Fortenberry will represent the Flashes in the big game which will be held in December.

Montgomery:

Montgomery serves as St. Al’s kicker where he kicked 13 successful extra points, four field goals(45 yards longest), and eight kickoff return tackles.

“I’m really excited to make it to the All-Star Game and I’m glad I got the opportunity,” Ellis said. “I’ve been doing this since the 10th grade so I’m ready for it.” Montgomery said.

Montgomery is also on the soccer team.

Hobson:

Hobson played on both the offensive and defensive line. He grabbed 40 tackles in his senior season along with having one blocked extra point.

“This opportunity gives me another chance to play football so that’s always a good thing,” Hobson said. “I’m going to make the best of it because this is the game that I love.”

Hobson also plays baseball at St. Al.

Fortenberry:

Fortenberry starred at both running back and linebacker since the ninth grade. In 2024, he rushed for 613 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also led the team with 94 tackles. Fortenberry is a four-year starter for the Flashes.

“I didn’t get to play in the last game of the season because of an injury so I’m pumped up to be able to play again,” Fortenberry said. “This season wasn’t the best but we were able to win our first playoff game in about 10 years so that’s always special.”

The Flashes finished 3-9 on the year where Fortenberry, Hobson, and Ellis all played a heavy role in each win. St. Al made it to the second round of the playoffs after shocking Winston Academy 33-27 in five overtimes.

The Flashes were led by first year Head Coach Walker Mosby.
