VICKSBURG, Miss. – Three Warren Central High School football players are now record-holders after recent performances led them to their newfound accomplishments. Maddox Lynch, Larry Reynolds Jr., and Jonah Artman all reached a new milestone in their varsity football career.

Maddox Lynch:

Lynch now holds the WCHS career receptions record surpassing his former teammate, Trey Hall. Maddox broke the record just a couple of weeks ago and now has a total of 92 receptions which became official in the win against Vicksburg High School where he had six receptions and 48 receiving yards.

“I feel blessed that God gave me the ability to play football and I’m grateful that my parents put all the time and effort to better me as a person and a football player,” Lynch said.

Lynch’s road to breaking the record began when he became a starter on the varsity team as a sophomore. He now stands at 6’5 and 236 pounds and has quickly gained the ability to not only catch a difficult pass but also block a defensive tackle into the turf with ease.

Lynch has earned his stripes at WC mentioning that a strong brotherhood with his teammates creates a good atmosphere.

“We have brotherhood here and we develop lifelong friendships at WC,” he said.

Lynch has current offers from the University of Central Arkansas, Co-Lin CC, Northwest Mississippi CC., and a host of other junior colleges.

After the 2024 season, Lynch will be playing in the Mississippi vs Alabama All-Star Game.

Larry Reynolds Jr:

Reynolds is currently having the best season of his varsity career. Due to last week’s performance against Neshoba Central, Reynolds now holds the season sack record at 11, and the career sack record at WC with 19.

Reynolds also started his varsity football journey as a sophomore who quickly learned the ins and outs of the game. Two years later you can hear his name being called in every game as he’s punished a quarterback in each match this year.

“This is my best so far but I’m not stopping here because I’m going to keep getting better and accelerate that current number of sacks,” Reynolds said.

Over the years, Reynolds has mastered the ability to aggressively run through some of the best offensive linemen in order to put the quarterback on his back. He testified that playing football at WC is a special treat and the atmosphere around football is some of the best feelings.

“A chance to come out here to compete is something special to witness and be a part of because we’re all one family and we make each other better,” he said.

Reynolds is one of the most underrated athletes in the state but has proven that he can not only compete with the best but he can also beat the best. He recently caught the eyes of Mississippi Valley State University where he has committed to play next year.

Jonah Artman:

After two successful field goals in last week’s wins, Artman’s 24th career field goals is now the Warren County field goals record holder.

“It’s always good to know that the team depends on me when they get down the field but unable to get in the end zone,” Artman said.

Although the kicking record features Artman’s name, he testified that it’s more than him who deserves the credit.

“It’s also not just my record, it’s my holder my snapper, and my blockers. I couldn’t do it without them,” Artman said. “God gave me this ability and I give him all the glory.”

Artman is ranked No. 1 in the 2026 class and once knocked down a 61-yard field goal at practice. Varsity football has also become a way of life for him, with plenty of time left at Warren Central.

“The game day environment and the fans make everything special out here, and I wouldn’t trade my teammates for anything,” he said.

The Vikings will be back in action on Friday where they will host Callaway.
