Todd McDaniel hired as VHS head football coach

Vicksburg High School has hired its new head football coach. Thursday, the Vicksburg-Warren School District board of trustees voted 3-0 to confirm Todd McDaniel for the job.
VHS has been in the search for a new coach for a few weeks after they dismissed head coach Tim Hughes. Many Gators fans were upset at the administration’s decision on Hughes, but the search for a new coach began quickly.
McDaniel was the head coach at Hazlehurst High School where he helped his team advance deep into the playoffs for most of his tenure. In 2017, McDaniel led Hazlehurst to an 11-3 record reaching the semifinals.
In 2011, McDaniel was named Alcorn State interim head coach after head coach Melvin Spears Jr. was fired. McDaniel was also recently hired as Yazoo City head football coach.
McDaniel will now take over the Gators who went 3-8 last season but have multiple starters returning for their senior year.
