Tommy Cantin sells The World

Delta’s iconic bar and eatery, The World, has been sold.

Owner Tommy Cantin confirmed to the Vicksburg Daily News the business will sell and the paperwork should be signed on Monday.

Sitting at a table outside the establishment, Cantin said, “It’s been some great years and good people. It seems like 25 years is a long time but it went by like that!” Cantin and two partners opened the bar 25 years ago but Cantin bought them out over the years.

“I’ve been blessed with so many good people over the years and I wish only the best for them,” continued Cantin.

The new owner will be Allen Kitchens. David Whittington will run the operation for Kitchens, “We’re not reinventing the wheel. We’re going to keep it all original for the customers. We may add a few things.”

Cantin’s other business, The Longbranch Saloon, will remain in operation with no change in ownership.
