Top linebackers in the city ready are for battle

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) – The River City is full of returning high school linebackers who are itching to get back on the field for their first game of the season in a few weeks.

Demarion Robinson, Gage Palmer, Floyd Davenport, and Chase Tucker are among some of the best and toughest linebackers in the city who will be gearing up soon for battle.

Robinson, a VHS standout, finished with 44 tackles in 2020 along with five sick’s while helping the Gators reach a playoff spot.

Davenport, WC’s hard hitter, racked up 67 tackles on the Vikings top notched defense as the team reached the second round of the playoffs in 2020.

The Flashes was led defensively by Tucker who starred at defensive end and linebacker in 2020 as he pulled in 48 tackles, three sacks, and three fumble recoveries.

Palmer stepped up for Porter’s Chapel Academy last season with 24 tackles and one fumble recovery to help the Eagles pull out some tough wins.

Each four linebackers have their own strengths that they bring to their team and each athlete is expected lay their opponents in the turf this season on multiple occasions.
