A routine traffic stop Saturday in Vicksburg resulted in an arrest for stolen guns.

Vicksburg police officers stopped David Hasty, 31, of Vicksburg, for speeding on Halls Ferry Road shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, on Halls Ferry Road.

Hasty consented to a search of his car after officers detected the odor of marijuana inside it. The search revealed two handguns, both of which had been reported stolen. One theft had been reported to the Vicksburg Police Department and the other to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers arrested Hasty on two counts of possession of stolen firearms as well as traffic violations.

On Monday, Judge Penny Lawson set Hasty’s bond at $10,000 for each firearm charge in Vicksburg Municipal Court and bound him over to the Warren County grand jury.
