Tree work is causing long backup on I-20 East

While the bridge work on I-20 East is complete, the work on the trees in the median will continue for another week or so. The work is causing long delays for eastbound traffic.
In a story published by the Vicksburg Daily News last week, Eric Morgan with MDOT explained the tree work in the median will last another 1 or 2 weeks, “After that, we’ll move to clear the trees on the shoulders. We’re clearing 50 feet from the Interstate and that will be mostly shoulder closures. We may have to close a lane occasionally, but nothing like right now.”
The work to clear trees near the shoulder will start at 61 North and continue to the Big Black. Morgan estimates that work will take a couple of months.
