Trinity McGloster signs to Jackson State University
VICKSBURG, Miss. – Vicksburg High School softball player Trinity McGloster signed a scholarship to Jackson State University on Wednesday. The senior shortstop made her decision a couple of months ago after verbally committing over social media.
“Jackson State was really a first choice for both school and athletics because it’s my dream school and they have my major, so it was a no-brainer,” McGloster said.
McGloster chose JSU over Rust College and Alcorn State University along with receiving interest from Ohio State and Oklahoma State.
Over the years, McGloster has been the nucleus of VHS softball. She’s received All-County recognition and has batted over .300 in each of her varsity years. Her junior year consisted of a .375 batting average, 21 hits, 14 RBIs, and 2 home runs.
First introduced to softball at the age of 6, Trinity began playing for the Vicksburg Girls’ Softball Association which prepared her to become a varsity softball player in the seventh grade. She testified that getting the game-winning out as a seventh grader is still one of her fondest memories.
“We were up by one in the bottom of the seventh and there were runners on third and first when the ball was hit to me and I threw it to first and we won the game,” McGloster added.
McGloster went on to help the Missy Gators clinch four district championships along with leading VHS to a third-round playoff appearance for the first time in the program’s history in 2022.
McGloster spent most of her softball years playing under Head Coach Brian Ellis. Last year Briana Knox took over the program where VHS clinched another playoff spot as she contributed at bat and at the pitcher position.
Since stepping onto the softball field for VHS, McGloster has been a dominant force for Missy Gators’ program as she has blossomed into a true athlete who plays the game with passion. She mentioned that her support system is a big reason for her success.
I want to thank my parents and younger sister,” she said. “I’m also grateful for all my grandparents and coaches from over the years because without them I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
Although Trinity is now officially signed as a college athlete, she is not done wearing green & white, with her senior season is approaching.
“We’re aiming for a state championship this year but it starts with a district championship and know this team is ready for it.”
