Truck traveling at high speed crashed on Cherry

truck crash on Cherry

At around midnight an older model black truck lost control and crashed on Cherry Street across from Carr Central apartments.

A few minutes earlier a marked unit with the VPD reported a truck matching that description traveling at a high rate of speed on Halls Ferry heading towards Cherry. The marked unit turned around and attempted to catch the truck but was not successful. A 911 radio report shortly thereafter said, “I think we may have found your truck.”

The older model black truck appears to have continued traveling north on Cherry past East and then past Belmont where the road dips and then rises over the railroad tracks next to United Cleaners. The roadway also does a slight turn to the right and it appears the truck was traveling too fast to make that slight turn to the right. Skid marks indicate the truck continued to travel in a straight line and made contact with the wall. Several trees were destroyed in the accident.

The driver of the vehicle was reported by witnesses to have walked away from the crash and was last seen walking north on Cherry.

There are no reported injuries in the accident. Traffic 1, Bobby Jones, worked the accident scene.
