Two arrested in separate cases involving firearm possession and assault

The Vicksburg Police Department has arrested two in separate cases. One involving weapon possession and the other involving a home invasion.

Firearm Possession

According to a press release by the Vicksburg Police Department, Jennifer Evans, 26, of Vicksburg was arrested Friday, Dec. 2, after her vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation.

She was found to be in possession of a Glock 9mm handgun that had previously been reported stolen through the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

Appearing in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Monday, Dec. 5, on charges of Possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Evans’ bond was set at $55,000 by Judge Angela Carpenter and she was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury.

Home invasion

Craig Coins, 28, of Edwards was arrested in the 800 block of Patton Street on Wednesday, Dec. 7, after he forced his way into a residence, firing a weapon in the process.

He was charged with Burglary of a Residence and Shooting Into an Occupied Dwelling.

Coins appeared before Judge Penny Lawson in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Thursday, Dec. 8, where he received a $45,000 bond and was bound over to the Warren County grand Jury.
