Two Hinds Community College track and field stars, Terrance Laird (Collegium) and Trishauna Hemmings (Hydel), signed their National Letters of Intent to continue their careers at big time National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I programs on Nov. 13 in front of friends and family.

Sophomore Terrance Laird inked his name with the Louisiana State University Tigers.

“Terrance is the fastest 200-meters sprinter to ever come through Hinds,” said head coach Reginald Dillon.

Laird’s fastest 200-meters’ time is 19.64 wind-aided, which according to World Athletics, puts him at No. 9 all-time in the world.

“He will be an outstanding addition to the national powerhouse program they have at LSU,” Dillon said.

Sophomore Trishauna Hemmings inked her name with the Clemson University Tigers.

“Trishauna is one of top-five junior college hurdlers in the country. She has tremendous upside and is one of most well-rounded individuals I have had the pleasure to be around,” Dillon said.

Both Laird and Hemmings will compete for Hinds this upcoming winter and spring before joining their respective NCAA programs.
