Two new Vicksburg police officers graduate from training academy
The ranks of the Vicksburg Police Department grew by two certified officers Thursday morning as Cortez Brooks and Blake Christopher Scallions graduated from the Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy in Pearl.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Brooks and Scallions have been at the training facility for the past seven weeks without a break.
During training, candidate officers must pass exams relating to academic content, firearms qualifying, defensive driving and defensive tactics, among other topics.
Police Chief Milton Moore says he has four new recruits heading to the academy in September.
Congratulations men and be safe out there.
