Two Warren County residents denied bond for death of child found Friday
Bond has been denied for Brooke Kathleen Mallett, 25 and John-Duke Walker, 22, two Warren County residents involved in a missing child case that led to the discovery of another missing, deceased child.
On Friday morning, Pace reported that a county resident called 911 around 9:30 a.m. to report a 5-year-old special needs child at her home in the 2400 block of Old Highway 27. When units arrived on the scene, they discovered the child was a special needs individual who could not communicate with authorities.
About an hour later, the mother of the child was located, reportedly asleep and unaware the children were missing, according to the Sheriff. They also discovered that another child, a three-year-old, was missing from the same home.
To assist in the search, every available deputy was called in, with the Vicksburg Police Department providing drone assistance. The child was later found in a nearby pond. CPR was administered until paramedics arrived. Sadly, the child was pronounced dead by Coroner Doug Huskey.
Mallett and Walker were seen in justice court Friday afternoon. As of this report, they have been charged with murder and were denied bond by Judge James Jefferson.
