Two women dead in two separate incidents in Claiborne County
It was a day Claiborne County Sheriff Frank Davis never thought he would experience, and it happened a week before he is scheduled to retire.
Davis was solemn as he spoke about two women who have died in Claiborne County in two separate incidents.
“I’ve been doing this 46 years,” he said, “46 years, and I’ve never had a day like today.”
At around 6 a.m. today, firefighters were called to a burning vehicle on Regan Island Road near Utica. When they arrived on the scene, they discovered a body in the vehicle. The woman, identified as Sandra Cook, 57, was sent to the state crime lab to see if a cause of death beyond the fire can be determined. The State Fire Marshall’s office is involved in the investigation.
In another incident, this afternoon a body was found on the side of Willow Road near the Willow Road Bridge. The sheriff said that body is Quawanda Hicks, missing since Dec. 19. She was last seen with Darion Hill. Hicks body had multiple gunshot wounds, Davis said.
Darion Hill is now wanted for murder.
“He seems to be on the run. He can turn himself in and tell us what happened.” Davis said. “We will not rest until we get him.”
Sheriff Davis retires from his job in 8 days after 46 years of service to the community.
