Tyler lands an athletics director position
Vicksburg native Kenneth Tyler has been named as the Athletics Director of Creswell Magnet School of the Performing Arts in Nashville, Tennessee.
“I was already familiar with sports, so once my football career ended I wanted to stay around athletics and learn the business side of things and learn how an athletics department should be ran,” Tyler said.
Before earning the AD position, Tyler, who is a graduate of Jackson State University, worked at Walmart and substitute teaching until he could find a career in his field. He now oversees 12 sports, 24 coaches and the entire athletic budget.
Although Tyler has landed his dream job, he intends to one day return to his hometown and become an athletics director and eventually work for a Division 1 program.
Tyler is a 2012 graduate of Vicksburg High School where he played football under Head Coach Alonzo Stevens. He then went on to play at Hinds CC and JSU.
