Help ensure the accuracy of the 2020 Census
It’s almost time for the 2020 census and the U.S. Census Bureau wants you!
Nov. 1 and 2, U.S. Census Bureau representatives will be at the Vicksburg Mall, 3505 Pemberton Square Blvd., near the Dillards entrance to take resumes to fill census-taker positions.
Those hired will go on foot throughout their communities, record each housing unit and report their findings to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The purpose of this work is to ensure that each occupied dwelling receives a census questionnaire for the 2020 Census.
“The census tells us who we are and where we are going as a nation, and helps our communities determine where to build everything from schools to supermarkets, and from homes to hospitals,” the census website states. “It helps the government decide how to distribute funds and assistance to states and localities. It is also used to draw the lines of legislative districts and reapportion the seats each state holds in Congress.”
Starting pay for this position is $15 per hour and applicants must be over the age of 18 and be able to pass a background check. The positions are temporary.
For more information about these and other opportunities with the U.S. Census, visit the 2020 Census website.
