Dr. Mehul Dixit, a physician with the University of Mississippi Medical Center, has been awarded a bond of $300,000 following allegations of sexual abuse involving an underage patient, WLBT reports.

Dixit, who was arrested on two felony counts of sexually abusing a patient, had a bond granted by Hinds County Court Judge Johnnie McDaniels on Friday. As part of the bond conditions, Dixit is required to abide by certain restrictions, including no contact with the alleged victims or the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), and wearing an ankle monitoring device.

Following the allegations, Dr. Mehul Dixit’s medical license has been temporarily suspended. He has been summoned by the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure for a hearing to assess whether he will maintain his medical license.
