Units respond to fire at Medical Plaza
At about 12:15 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the Medical Plaza for a possible structure fire.
Initial reports indicated that smoke was coming from underneath a door and that the alarm was sounding. The sprinkler system activated and water was flowing throughout the structure.
“When we arrived, we had light smoke in the building,” said Batallion 1 commander Carl Carlson. “The sprinkler system had already extinguished the fire.”
Multiple fire units responded to the scene including Engine 2, Engine 8, Rescue, Ladder 3 and Fire Investigator Nate Williams.
According to Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps, “The fire was inside a wall, about 3 feet up from the floor. The sprinkler system extinguished the fire before the VPD arrived.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. No injuries were reported.
