UPDATE: Mystery man found on the river identified

Published

on

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace has identified the man rescued earlier today from the Mississippi River.

Pace said that among the man’s belonging was a rabies dog tag. He was able to track down the veterinarian who issued the tag, and the vet put Pace in contact with the family of the man who obtained the tag for his dog.

The rescued man is Ricky Harrison, 59, of Eudora, Ark.

Harrison’s family said he had put into the water last May at Lake Village, Ark. That was the last they had heard from him. Pace said the family was relieved to know that Harrison was alive.

The sheriff also indicated that Harrison seemed to be living off the land. Among his possessions were firearms and traps and other items that indicated he had been hunting and fishing.

The Vicksburg Daily News is continuing to follow this story as it unfolds. We will provide more details as we know them.
