Around 4 p.m. today, Vicksburg Police officers responded to a shooting in a residence at 3708 Halls Ferry Road.

First responders attempted to provide CPR to the victim, who had been shot in the chest. He did not survive.

Moments ago, Vicksburg Police Chief Milton Moore identified the deceased as Courtney Anderson, 39, of Vicksburg.

Officers secured the area, searching for the shooter and closing down Halls Ferry Road for about three hours. The road has now been reopened.

Police have detained one person of interest for questioning. Police are still searching for another suspect, who Moore identified as Jason Skinner, 28. Skinner is described as a white male with blonde hair last seen wearing a camouflage jacket and blue cut-off shorts.

Witnesses say the shooter is carrying a sawed-off shotgun, which he used to shoot his victim.

This is a developing story. Check back for further details.
