National Safe Boating Week is an annual observance week for the Safe Boating Campaign from May 22 – May 28.

The global awareness effort seeks to educate and encourage those taking to the water to get the most out of their adventure by educating safe boating practices.

Boating accidents cause many deaths each year. Many deaths occur from incidents such as retrieving boats, something that could be prevented from something as simple as learning to tie a knot or wearing a life jacket. National Safe Boating Week campaigns for education in proper safety measures while on the water.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District is helping spread the word and saving lives in the process.

With summer inbound, many will look to take to the lakes and rivers, please take the time to educate yourself and loved ones on how to stay safe.
