USACE Vicksburg Districts’s Levee Safety Center recognized for contributions to dam and levee safety
The USACE Headquarters (HW USACE) has recognized U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District’s Levee Safety Center for their contributions to dam and levee safety and as the 2021 Dam Safety Team of the Year for providing outstanding leadership of the Dam Safety risk Communication Training Team.
Katie Noland, a social scientist, was honored by being selected as the 2021 Levee Safety Professional of the Year. She was recognized for providing levee safety contributions and was chosen from a pool of candidates which were nominated agency-wide by the HQ USACE Levee Safety Committee.
Stacy Tennison, a visual information specialist, also represented the district.
Other members were also included, including personnel from several divisions and districts, USACE centers and FEMA.
“Dam and levee safety are paramount in our area of responsibility. We’re thrilled that Katie Noland and the Levee Safety Center team have been recognized for their continued dedication and hard work,” said USACE Vicksburg District Commander Col. Robert Hilliard in a press release.
The Levee Safety Center provides support to the USACE Levee Safety Program. The center leads the implementation of the National Levee Safety Initiative as well as collaborates with other agencies to develop national safety policies.
