The University of Southern Mississippi is hiring University of Tulane offensive coordinator Will Hall as its next head football coach.

According to multiple reports, Hall will be announced as the new coach Wednesday.

USM has struggled this season with a 2-7 record after former head coach Jay Hopson resigned after the first game of the season. Scotty Walden stepped in for Hopson as interim head coach but resigned a couple of weeks later after being named the head coach of Austin Peay State University in Tennessee.

Tim Billings is now USM’s interim head coach but Hall will take over shortly after the end of the season.

Hall has been at Tulane since 2019, and he helped them reach a bowl game last year. His last head coaching job was in 2016 when he was the head coach of the University of West Georgia. He also was the head coach at West Alabama from 2011 to 2013.

Hall has a 56-20 record between coaching at West Georgia and West Alabama.
