VCS names Dr. Buddy Strickland as interim principal of St. Aloysius
Vicksburg Catholic Schools announced on Wednesday they have appointed Dr. Buddy Strickland as interim principal of St. Aloysius.
The school had recently announced they were seeking to fill the position. However, the appointment of Dr. Strickland will now give them more time to seek a permanent replacement.
“This gives us the time to conduct a more thorough search to ensure that we find the right person,” said Canonical Administrator Fr. Rusty Vincent in a press release. “I’m excited that Dr. Strickland is willing to serve in this role at the school. He has proven himself in the past, and he has a great love for VCS and Catholic education.”
Dr. Strickland brings to the table over 50 years of experience working as an educator and administrator. Four of which was spent at St. Aloysius.
He will be replacing Karla McHan, who served as principal for the last three years.
“I’m indebted to Karla for what she did with this school in a particularly difficult environment with Covid,” said Dr. Strickland. “I have a great deal of love for this school, and everything it encompasses. Going forward, everything we do will be a cooperative effort with teachers, staff, students, parents, and advisory council. Everyone is valued, and everyone has a role.”
VCS is still seeking applications to find a permanent candidate to fill the role, specifically for those willing to serve as an assistant for a transition period under Dr. Strickland.
