VDN Baseball Player of the Year Wes Warnock signs with MDCC
The Vicksburg Daily News Baseball Player of the Year Wes Warnock has signed with Mississippi Delta Community College to continue his playing career.
Choosing MDCC felt like the choice for Warnock as he will be joining two of his old teammates, Haden Luke and Kieran Theriot, who are already on the Trojans baseball team.
“I went for a visit and I felt like it was the perfect place for me and I also feel that those coaches can get me to the next level,” Warnock said.
Warnock, who played centerfield under head coach Sid Naron, was a key reason that the Flashes remained a stand-out baseball team over the years. He finished his senior season with a .494 batting average as St. Aloysius once again gained a playoff spot.
One of Warnock’s best performances this season was against Park Place Christian Academy where he went 5 for 5 at the plate along with three RBIs and a home run in a 10-3 win.
Not only is Warnock celebrating his college signing, but he has also been selected as VDN’s Player of the Year.
“I am very blessed and honored to receive this award,” Warnock said. “I couldn’t have done it without the help of my coaches and all of the teammates that I have had around me for the past four years. I worked hard and winning this award showed that hard work really does pays off and my coaches pushed me to be my best on and off the field.”
Warnock will soon be heading to MDCC and Vicksburg Daily News will continue to provide updates on his future success.
