Good News
VDN readers told us their good news of 2020
It’s no secret that many of us were happy to have sent 2020 packing Thursday night. But even among the dark clouds of the year, many of us found bright spots and silver linings. In fact, some Vicksburg Daily News readers had an exceptionally good year.
We asked you to tell us your good news stories of 2020, and for those who responded, 2020 was a great year, indeed, bringing new beginnings and blessings to last a lifetime.
Reader Wendi wrote: “I married the love of my life and my best friend in April of 2020.”
Elizabeth’s year wasn’t all bad, either.
“I found an extra job when schools shut down that helped me stay busy and earn extra cash,” she wrote. “I started a new position at my main job that I have really enjoyed!”
Carol McMullen has taken great joy in the young folks who came into her life in 2020.
“My great nephew Steven Gregory Hugley III was born in May,” she wrote. “My granddaughter Lakyn Cheyenne Denney was born in September.”
Carol is also clearly enjoying watching her grands grow up.
“My oldest granddaughter Makenzie Claire started pre-K,” she wrote. “My grandson Kolton Ryder McCrory is very healthy and learning something new every day.”
Pamela also welcomed a new member to her family.
“I would have to say the best thing to happen this year is that my son got married,” she wrote. “I now have a daughter-in-love. I enjoy having her as a daughter.”
Reader Ethan could barely contain all the joy 2020 brought to him.
“Got married! Got my dream job! Moved to a bigger city! Stayed healthy!” he wrote.
Finally, Heather Williams, who writes for the Vicksburg Daily News, had this to say: “After retiring in December of 2019, I began two fabulous new jobs in 2020!”
Working with Heather was been one of the joys 2020 brought to us at VDN, and we second that “fabulous.”
From all of us at the Vicksburg Daily News, thank you for sharing 2020 with us. You are the reason we do what we do, and we can’t do it without you. We hope you found some great happiness in the past year, and we wish you the absolute best for 2021.
