VicksburgDailyNews.com Exclusive! VicksburgDailyNews.com was able to speak briefly with Governor Haley Barbour after his press conference today at the Vicksburg Municipal Airport. Governor Barbour has issued an executive order that bans boating in the flooded areas, saying that the wake left by boats can endanger levees. Boats in the water may also be in harms way because of the unseen danger of power lines, which may be live, that have already been overtopped. The Governor wanted to stress the danger and the toxicity of the waters in the Mississippi. He cautions against playing, swimming, etc. in the flood waters because of the malignant organisms in the water. Governor Barbour, when asked about some who have had power disconnected but are not directly affected by the flood waters, asks them to be very understanding of the situation and feel blessed that they aren’t affected by the waters.
