Vehicle destroyed by fire on Friday morning
Just after midnight Warren County E-911 received a call of a vehicle fire on the 400 block of Venable Lane, threatening a structure. Jeff Riggs, spokesman for the Warren County Fire Service, reported that units from Bovina and Culkin responded with engine 401 and Tanker 409.
Assistant Chief of Bovina, Scott Smith, was Incident Commander and directed fire suppression operations of the vehicle that was fully engulfed with flames. Fire personnel from Bovina, Wendell Blair, Culkin, Chuck Tate, and Letourneau’s Hunter Ivey quickly extinguished the fire.
A mobile home receive very minor damage to the exterior, but the vehicle was a total loss. The cause was determined that the owner of the vehicle was drilling a hole in the gas tank in preparation to take the vehicle to a salvage yard sometime today when a fire broke out. No one was injured.
