Vehicle explosion causes fire that put nearby homes at risk
A truck caught on fire off of Jeff Davis Road Thursday night that threatened nearby structures.
Firefighters set course for the scene after dispatch received the call at 9:47 p.m. on Thursday. The vehicle was reported to have exploded around 9:50 p.m. and appears to have caused damage to the residence beside it.
By 10:15 p.m., the fire was under control. Two firefighters were seen working together to soak the vehicle and eliminate the remaining flames.
Smoke filled the air from the Jeff Davis exit off of 61 South all the way to Fisher Ferry. At this time nobody has been reported to have been harmed and the cause of the fire is unknown.
302 from Fisher Ferry, 602 from LeTourneau, Robert Whitten and Mitch Lange all responded to the scene.
