Four Vicksburg High School boy’s basketball players signed athletic scholarships on Wednesday to further their playing careers.

Jaden Williams, Sean Hardy, Taylon Smith and Keshawn Brown all signed to local junior colleges today after wrapping up their senior seasons playing under head coach Kelvin Carter.

Smith and Hardy signed with Jones Community College as they will join the Bobcats organization this fall. Smith averaged 15.8 points per game this season and was the VDN Player of the Year, while teammate Brown put up 10.6 points with 6.0 rebounds.

Brown chose Meridian CC as his next destination for basketball and will soon be fighting for a starting spot at the college level. He managed to average an impressive 13.5 points per game along with 8.6 rebounds.

Williams, who played in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Game, will be heading to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to play basketball at the collegiate level.  He was a great defensive player for the Gators this season as he managed to grab over 10 rebounds each match while securing 8.2 points per game.

All five of these talented athletes led VHS to a 17-8 season this year and a trip to the second round of the playoffs. They all managed to work greatly as a team and accomplished many goals such as knocking off No. 1 ranked Clinton earlier this season.

Vicksburg Daily News will continue to provide updates on each player’s success as they will now be playing on a higher level.
