Vicksburg High School crushed Jim Hill 18-1 on Friday night.

“We came out happy and ready to play and we definitely showed them what we were working with,” VHS player Braylon Green said.

The Tigers got on the board first from a steal but the Gators responded with hits from Mincer Minor IV, Tyler Carter and Kealon Bass to go up 3-1. Braylon Green would also bring in two runs from a hit.

After a few steals and walks, Carter would get a nice home run with two men on base to put the score at 10-1 at the end of the first inning.

“I put in a lot of work in the offseason so I knew it was going to eventually happen but my hard work definitely showed on the field tonight,” Carter said.

Carter would strike out two batters in the second to keep JH with one run.

Multiple walks kept VHS ahead along with Connor Harrigill scoring off a passed ball. Green would then get a double that brought in two more runs. Kearris Gilliam and Bass both picked up a RBI while Mickell Jones got a doubled that led to another run as the Gators had a 18-1 lead at the end of the second.

The game would eventually be called in the third.

Carter went 2 for 2 with three RBIs and Green had four RBIs with his two hits. Jones, Bass and Minor each had a hit.

Carter struck out three on the night.

VHS will host Terry on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and JV will start at 11:00 a.m.
