VHS defeats Raymond in a scrimmage on Friday
Vicksburg High School football team brought home a 14-0 win against Raymond High School on Friday in a scrimmage, just before the regular season is set to kick off next week.
“We made a lot of mistakes offensively but the guys got the big plays when we needed it and we’re happy to have the opportunity to play against somebody before the season start,” head coach Todd McDaniel said.
Malik Montgomery and Alex Jeffers scored the two touchdowns that got the Gators the win, carrying the ball behind an aggressive offensive line.
Demarion Robinson, Demarcus Johnson and Caleb Bryant all had major stops to make the game a shutout.
“Defense played extremely well and we were able to keep them out of the end zone,” McDaniel said.
VHS also scrimmaged against Hazlehurst where the score was a tied at zero. Now, the Gators will focus on next week’s season opener against Germantown at home.
