The Vicksburg High School coaches have been named as the Capital Region Coaching Staff of the Year.

The award is presented to the best coaching staff in the metro area, and the Gator staff was happy to accept.

“I’m proud of the coaches and players and it’s a testament to all the hard work and we’re looking forward to taking all this momentum into the spring and into the upcoming season,” VHS head coach Todd McDaniel said. “We appreciate Capital Region and Coach Thigpen for recognizing us.”

The Gators wrapped up their season last month with a 7-5 record and a second round playoff appearance. 22 players were named to the 5A All-District Team which was huge testament of their success.

VHS had a complete turnaround from the 2020 season where they only won two games on the field. The next year, they became one of the best teams in their district.
