VHS freshman football team defeated Terry 28-22 on Thursday

Vicksburg High School’s ninth-grade football team defeated Terry on Thursday night in a 28-22 win.

The Bulldogs managed to get the first touchdown of the night but it didn’t take long for the Gators to respond.

By the third quarter, VHS was down 22-14 until JT Gaines broke out on a 44-yard run for a touchdown. A two-point conversion would tie the game at 28.

A few plays after the Gaines’ long run, Jadarius Henderson caught an interception and took it to the end zone for another touchdown.

VHS was able to maintain their lead for the rest of the night to pull off the win.

Gaines finished with 157 rushing yards and three touchdowns while running behind lead blockers Shaun Michael Archer, Author Davis and Darius Stamps. Dayquan Warfield had a long catch that went for 37 yards with Jamikal Maxey throwing.

Defensively, Dejari Brown and Kaleb Hasy each had three tackles while Arrius Stamps grabbed four tackles.

The freshman Gators will travel to Pearl on Tuesday.
