VHS, PCA, and WC picked up basketball wins on Tuesday
Vicksburg, Miss.-Vicksburg High School, Porter’s Chapel Academy and Warren Central basketball teams picked up wins on Tuesday.
VHS Girls:
The Missy Gators finished the night with a 64-47 win over the Lady Tigers. Zion Harvey showed up throughout the night as she collected 30 points to help put the game away.
VHS started the game off with a 21-3 lead and by halftime, they were up 35-19. Cynia Johnson was next in line to show out as she put up 18 points, mostly from inside the paint.
The Missy Gators maintained a heavy lead throughout the night as Ny’Keria Watson brought in six points and Jordan Grace hit a 3-pointer and finished with five on the board. Kenley Henderson scored four points and Raylyn Parson hit a free throw.
VHS is now 9-3 under Head Coach Troy Stewart.
VHS Boys:
The Gators dominated over McComb as they came out with a 71-33 win. Jadarius Henderson had another big night by finishing with 16 points.
The Gators had a 37-25 lead by halftime as Marlyn Foy contributed with multiple layups and ended the night with 10 points. By the fourth quarter, a running clock was enforced as VHS cruised their way to another victory.
Jaquez Marshall scored nine points in the win and Jaquez Jones put up seven while Sedret Maxwell and Mincer Minor IV both added six points each. Wallyss Curry, Kris Washington, and Javeion Perkins all had four points while DeCorey Knight Jr. hit a 3-pointer and Brycen Jones finished with two points.
VHS is now 8-6 on the year under Head Coach Kelvin Carter and they will travel to Crystal Springs on Friday.
PCA Girls:
The Lady Eagles took a 39-25 loss to Franklin Academy. Sophie Masterson led with 10 points and Marley Bufkin scored four. Lexi Whittington and Kendall Smith both scored three points and Audrey Carraway added two points.
PCA Boys:
The PCA boys took down Franklin Academy 57-30.
Jase Jung led with 14 points and Corvin Finch put up 13. Morris Bailey and Schaffer Bell both scored eight points each while Nathan Austin and Coltin Hancock both scored five points. Tyler Halter and Clayton McClure ended the win with two points.
Warren Central Boys:
The Vikings came out with a 57-44 win against Murrah to pick up their second win in a row.
Roosevelt Harris Jr. led with 14 and Jaylon Winters scored 11 in the win. Larry Reynolds Jr. put up 10 points while Robert Williams added six. Nash Morgan scored five points and Davon O’Neal scored three while Caleb Lane and Micah Moore both had two points.
Warren Central Girls:
The Lady Vikes fell short in a close match against Murrah that resulted in a 46-45 loss. Camara Evans led with 22 points and Madison Ward scored 10 points. Keasia Williams put up seven points and Arrionna Jenkins finished with four on the board.
WC will host Port Gibson on Friday.
