VHS swim team competed over the weekend at the city pool

Vicksburg High School swim team completed their meet on Saturday, where both the boy’s and girl’s team competed.

“We are a smaller team compared to many of the schools we go up against,” head coach Jon Graham said. “We have a lot of young, first year swimmers on the team, as well as a handful of seasoned swimmers, that are making progress  and great strides to shave off time in their respective events.

“I am beyond proud of my team and truly blessed to coach such an amazing group of kids. They have the heart and determination of champions. Definitely don’t count us out, because we are relentless in our pursuit. We compete, we practice, we improve, and we conquer. That’s just part of building a successful and competitive program.”

Both the boys and girls team finished in eighth place at the meet.

Multiple of Gators have already qualified for the North State meet as well.

1. Alex Rowe- 500 yds freestyle, 200yds freestyle , 100yds backstroke, 100yds butterfly
2. Kara Rowe- 200yds freestyle, 100yds backstroke, 200yds IM
3. Boys 200 yds freestyle relay team: (north state qualifying)

   Jonathan Juve
   Marktaus Berry (1st yr swimmer)
