VHS Women’s basketball team defeats Provine

The Vicksburg High School women’s basketball team traveled to Jackson, Miss.,  yesterday to play Provine High School in the Pepsi-Jackson Public Schools Holiday Basketball Tournament.

The game resulted in the Gators defeating Provine by a score of 52-42.

Sophomore Destiny Sims led the way for the Gator victory with 20 points, two rebounds, and two steals.

Yakia Burns and Ny’Keria Shelton also put up impressive numbers to help secure the Gator victory. Burns had 12 points, one assist, and four rebounds, while Shelton dropped eight points and four rebounds.

At the end of this game, the Gators (9-5) had a three game winning streak. They played Calloway today.
