Vicksburg and Warren County firefighters respond to assist Port Gibson

The City of Port Gibson has been battling a major commercial structure fire this afternoon.

According to Port Gibson Police Chief Russel Dorsey, several buildings have sustained damage, including the Police Department.

The fire began at 224 Carroll Street. Vicksburg Fire Chief Craig Danczyk along with Warren County Fire Coordinator Jerry Briggs are in route to Port Gibson.

As a result of a mutual aid request by Port Gibson Fire Chief George Hudson, Ladder 15 has been deployed from Station 5 (Vicksburg Airport) to the scene, as an elevated fire suppression apparatus is needed to battle the fire.

Vicksburg Fire Chief Craig Danczyk stated there were “concerns of rekindle” which may reignite the fire, “but manageable scene at the moment”
