Vicksburg Art Association congratulates winners and closes a successful spring show

The Vicksburg Art Association closed its Members’ Exhibition on Wednesday at 4 p.m after a successful spring art show.

Artists from all over Vicksburg came together to display their works in a strikingly diverse gallery. The art show lasted from Saturday through Wednesday. Winners were selected by Ron Lindsey and were announced on Saturday evening at the reception.

A huge congratulations is in order for all of the artists involved. The show featured a very eclectic turn out of work and intrigued guests from all over. An even bigger congratulations is due for the winners; their hard work and passion for painting paid off with well earned recognition and prizes.

Overall Winners:

  • 1st Place, Best of Show:

Fine Craft Category Winners:

  • 1st Place: Kathe Lawton, “Catch Me if You Can”
  • 2nd Place: Kathe Lawton, “Bunny Planter”
  • 3rd Place: Lisa Grant, “Flamenco”

The people who attended the showing on the first night were also able to vote for their favorite pieces overall in the show. Three artists took home prizes and ribbons for the People’s Choice.

People’s Choice Awards Winners:

  • 1st Place: Carrie Roebuck, “Gatsby’s Girl”
  • 2nd Place: Keith Matthews, “Sunlight Sonata”
  • 3rd Place: Jean Blue, “Striped Vase”

The Vicksburg Art Association plans to hold its Fall Exhibition in October.
