Vicksburg Art Association Members’ Exhibition will begin Saturday
The Vicksburg Art Association will be hosting a Members’ Exhibition that will feature original artworks from old and new members of the Vicksburg art community.
The Vicksburg Art Association, which was originally established in 1963, will be holding this event from Apr. 23 to Apr. 27. The exhibition will take place in the historic Old Constitution Firehouse, located at 1204 Main Street, which functions as headquarters for the Association. At 7 p.m., Saturday, the gallery will be open to the public. Those wishing to purchase art will have early access to viewing the work and may attend the showing as soon as 6 p.m.
The following times will also be available for public viewing:
- Sunday, Apr. 24: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
- Monday, Apr. 25: noon – 4 p.m.
- Tuesday, Apr. 26: noon – 6 p.m.
- Wednesday, Apr. 27: noon – 4 p.m.
The gallery will display a maximum of three artworks submitted by members of the Association and includes a variety of unique pieces. The artwork will be judged for Best of Show by Ron Lindsey, who will award three artists with ribbons for cash prizes in first, second and third place. Lindsey will also award ribbons to honorable mentions in each category. Additionally, there will be first, second, and third place ribbons given to three artists by the people’s choice, which will be decided by guests who attend the viewing on Apr. 23. Artists involved were also allowed to enter a fourth special “miniatures” category piece, which is eligible to win a separate prize as well as a people’s choice award.
The categories include acrylic, oil, water color, three dimensional, photo: monochrome, photo: color, drawing, fiber, mixed media, graphic design, printmaking, digital imagery and fine craft.
