Vicksburg Catholic Schools will close Friday for mourning

Vicksburg Catholic Schools will be closing Friday to mourn the loss of two of its former students.

The school sent out a notice on Wednesday.

Dear Vicksburg Catholic School Family,

As a school family, we learn together, we celebrate together, and we grieve together. VCS Montessori teacher, Ashley Roesch, and cross-country coach, Donald Roesch, lost their son Chandler in a most unfortunate accident. This has deeply affected all of our school community. After much thought and in consultation with the Office of Catholic Education, VCS will be closed Friday, February 11, so that our school family may attend the funeral. We do so out of respect for the classmates of his sibling and the elementary school family, and in support of the Roesch family.

We appreciate your understanding and support during this emotional time for our students and faculty. Please continue to pray for peace and healing for both the Simrall/Hood and Roesch families during this difficult time.
