Vicksburg competing for HGTV’s ‘Home Town Takeover’ – video
Vicksburg has thrown its hat into the ring to be part of an ambitious HGTV project to make over an entire town.
The project, “Home Town Takeover,” is geared to small towns with populations under 40,000 residents.
The selected town will witness the rehab of multiple individual family homes and the revitalization of public spaces, such as parks, local diners and recreation centers. If selected, Vicksburg will be featured in a six-episode series slated to premiere on HGTV in 2021.
With only a few weeks to get the application completed, a group of volunteers led by Launo Moore and Elizabeth Nelson got busy. The entry was also supported by the area’s economic development organizations including the Vicksburg Warren County Chamber of Commerce, Visit Vicksburg, Vicksburg Main Street and the City of Vicksburg itself.
Even the kids got involved, as James “Thomas” Kilroy III, Maya Diaz and Aliana Simone Williams are featured in the video, with Diaz narrating.
