Vicksburg Fire Department announces retirement of Captain Michael Cogan
Captain Michael Cogan is retiring from the Vicksburg Fire Department after 37 years.
VFD announced on Sunday that Cogan, recently recognized for his years of dedicated service, will be retiring.
Vicksburg Fire Chief Craig Danczyk stated, “Captain Mike Cogan has had an incredible career from 1984-2021. During that time he served at the rank of Captain for over 25 years. He hired on when firefighters rode the “tailboards” of the fire trucks, and SCBAs were new equipment. He always had pride of ownership in station and vehicle readiness, and the people of Vicksburg should feel great about the level of service he gave. He will be missed at the Vicksburg Fire Department, and I am excited for him and his family in retirement.”
Cogan served the people of Vicksburg from 1984 – 2021 and was a Senior Captain, serving as the company officer on Ladder 15/Station #5.
His final shift will be Memorial Day, May 31, 2021.
