Vicksburg Fire Department responded to two fire calls Wednesday afternoon

Vicksburg Fire Department responded to two fires on Wednesday.

Just after 4 p.m. VFD was alerted to a structure fire in the 600 block of Warrenton Lane, Batesville Casket. Ladder 15, Ladder 3, Engine 8, FD 1, Battalion 1 and Fire Medic 80 responded to the scene.

A silo was ablaze behind the company. Employees were evacuated for safety.

Firefighters were able to quench the flames at around 5:15 p.m. The scene was turned over to Batesville Casket staff for maintenance and fire watch.

A second fire was reported at 5 p.m., just before the first fire was brought under control.

Engine 6, Ladder 14, Engine 2, Engine 7 and FD3 responded to responded to the 2600 block of Roosevelt Avenue.

Firefighters discovered the call came due to a pot on the stove.

No injuries were reported.
